I Love Fedora Meetup @ Open Labs Albania – Event Report

Some people (geeks, geeks everywhere!) decided to spend their St. Valentine’s Day in a different way. And that was to show their appreciation towards Fedora and Free and Open Source Software in general.

On Saturday 14 February 2015, the Open Labs community in Albania organised a local Fedora-related event called I <3 Fedora Meetup. Think of it as a Fedora Coffee event (really, remember those events a few years ago?) aiming to gather people together interested about our project, to discuss all the latest news around it, and to strengthen our local community presence in the region.

Jona while presenting at the event.

Jona, who run the event, is a young student at the University of Tirana and a member of Open Labs. She’s interested about spreading the love about Fedora in her region and building up a local community.

I’ve been in Albania as a Fedora Ambassador last May, when I spoke at OSCAL – Open Source Conference Albania about the Fedora Project in general and also run a workshop. It was so nice back then to see a lot of people interested in our work.

This time, I couldn’t attend this event in person, but I was apparently a virtual speaker. I recorded a very short video for the event, explaining the core values of our project and our community in general. I also provided a few info on how to get Fedora and seek support, and also made a quick reference to our popular remixes. You can find my video (available under CC BY-SA-ND) here.

Fedora, Chocolates, and Love. Also time to get them some F21s.

You can also find more photos from the event here.

Thanks Jona, thanks Redon, and thanks Open Labs. Good luck with your future activities!
